Features of Mobile Diabetes Applications

I thought this review of features of mobile diabetes applications, http://www.jmir.org/2011/3/e65/, from the Journal of Medical Internet Research (JMIR) was an interesting overview, especially because so much of diabetes management must be conducted by the patient.

The review, however, states that there were no studies available that evaluate the social media concepts in diabetes self-management via mobile phones. Does anyone know of any studies exploring this area? What would studies like this look like?
