PROGRAM
Clinical protocol algorithms for use by health workers at a health facility to accurately assess pregnant patients who come to a health facility in labor. The clinical protocol will assess whether the pregnant patient in labor appeared to be progressing normally and whether any specific interventions, emergency or otherwise, are needed at any given point of time during the labor and delivery process. In addition to the antenatal protocols, protocols to guide the health care workers for postnatal and neonatal care are in development. These will be complemented with protocols for the community health workers and an interface that links the data from the facility visits to the community and vice versa. The protocols focus on identifying danger signs, complications, encouraging facility delivery and comprehensive counseling including individual birth pain, nutrition and family planning. These protocols are at an early stage of development. Key development partner is D-Tree International.
