mHealth: Mobile Technologies to Improve Health
Summary
Health is an underlying aspect of the RIO +20 Conference, and the importance of investing in improving people’s health and their environment has been identified as a prerequisite to sustainable development.
How Mobile Technology Influences Health Innovation
Mobile technology has transformed the way that individuals accomplish everyday tasks like finding directions, paying bills, and communicating with friends. But mobile technology has also changed the way individuals interact with the medical system around the world. With technological advances, health providers are now able remotely to monitor diabetic and heart patients, send email reminders to take medications, and access diagnostic databases through mobile devices.

Mobile Health Accelerator Classes
Mobile Health is a dynamic field with an exponential increase in activity over the last few years. In order to complement the Mobile Health Summit, we have put together a series of free Mobile Health Accelerator Classes to bring all participants to the same level of understanding of the current state and issues surrounding mobile health, as well as to enhance their ability to appreciate the various components of the conference and how they fit together.
Topics include:
mHealthEd
Tremendous growth in phone penetration advances in e-Learning and mLearning, as well as the huge demand for training, especially in the developing-country health sector, are creating a new industry segment called mHealth Education. mHealthEd 2012 is a partner event of the GSMA-mHealth Alliance Health Summit and is a global event dedicated to mHealth Education.
